Maupiti Mairie & Gendarmerie

16° 26.8′ S · 152° 14.9′ W

Maupiti's town hall stands on the Vaiea waterfront beside the dinghy dock and post office. Maupiti is not a port of entry: arrive already cleared into French Polynesia, and take notices, local rules and lagoon questions to the mairie.

Practical

Noonsite (2024 profile): 'No check-in here but prior permission from the Gendarmerie in Bora Bora is required.' Clear in at Bora Bora (Vaitape), Raiatea (Uturoa) or Papeete before you come, and tell the Bora Bora gendarmerie your plans. The 2026 decree requires its text and maps to be posted at the mairie, so this is where to see the ZMR plans and the manta no-navigation zone limits. Anchoring authorization comes from DPAM (+689 40 54 45 00), not the mairie. This research did not confirm a staffed gendarmerie post on Maupiti; for emergencies, use the clinic beside the mairie and VHF 16 or the MRCC. Next door: post office with ATM (OSM; Noonsite says most local post offices have ATMs), Protestant temple and fire station.

Best for

Local rules, ZMR maps and the post office/ATM
