Tiki Point Dive (NW outer reef, Moorea)

17° 29.0′ S · 149° 55.0′ W · approximate

Moorea's signature shark dive on the outer slope off the island's northwest tip, where a resident school of blacktip, grey reef and lemon sharks circles divers. It takes its name from a submerged stone tiki that once stood on the site.

Practical

Approximate: Tahiti Tourisme places it 'at the very northwestern tip of Moorea'; pin set on the outer slope north of Motu Fareone, ±500 m, no published GPS. Depth: Scubapiti 15–25 m; Topdive's 2014 trip report gives an average around 25 m (82 ft) with a maximum near 35 m (115 ft). Tahiti Tourisme warns of 'changing and rapid currents'; Topdive found only a slow current, so conditions vary. Life: blacktip reef sharks (Scubapiti), grey reef, blacktip, lemon sharks, barracudas and turtles (Moorea Blue Diving); humpbacks pass in season. Open to Level 1 / Open Water with Scubapiti. Nearest operators: Moorea Fun Dive and Scubapiti at Hauru, a few minutes by boat. Exposed to north swell; operators pick the site each morning on conditions. Feeding sharks and fish is prohibited (2026 brief). Under the 2025 anchoring decree divers may not use occupied ZMR moorings; dive with an operator or from a tended dinghy flying a dive flag.
