The rocky tip at the south end of Tereia beach is Maupiti's 'soul-leaping place'. Tradition holds that the dead set off from here for Motu Auira and Mopelia. Beside it are the rocks where the warrior Ninahere left his imprints, and the cave of the lizard of the Moorea legend.
