Point Venus Underwater Trail (Pointe Tefauroa)
17° 29.6′ S · 149° 29.5′ W · approximate
A marked educational snorkel trail off Point Venus, with signs at each station describing the fish and corals, a dinghy ride from the Matavai Bay anchorage.
Practical
Approximate: placed at the small channel mapped by OpenStreetMap just north-east of Pointe Tefauroa; look for the signs above the water. Route (Sugar Shack, Sept 2019): from the anchorage take the dinghy outside the white marker, hug the black-and-yellow markers, pass the small opening to the dinghy landing, then continue toward the small motu until you see the signs. Ashore: the lighthouse, an artisan market, snacks and historical markers. Matavai Bay is a 24-hour stop at most and rolly in north or west swell.
