Motu Piti Aau Resort Beaches (InterContinental Thalasso, Le Méridien)
16° 30.4′ S · 151° 42.2′ W
The long lagoon-side beaches of Motu Piti Aau on the east lagoon, where the InterContinental Thalasso and Le Méridien face Mount Otemanu across the water. They are resort beaches, but they line the inner channel used to reach the Motu Fare One mooring field.
Practical
Coordinate is the OSM beach polygon in front of the InterContinental Thalasso. bora-bora-insider lists the InterContinental Thalasso beach and the Le Méridien beach as private resort beaches, reached by resort boat. Wikipedia notes that Piti Aau (2.25 km²) has about 50 residents and many private households, with the village of Taurere on its south-west corner. There is no published public landing; ask before going ashore. Le Méridien runs a turtle center on the motu (OSM). NauticEd warns that boats can run aground just past the InterContinental on the channel south to Pointe Fareone, where the dogleg is marked only by two bent rusty poles. Motor slowly and keep clear of swimmers and kayaks off the resorts.
Best for
Scenery on the east-lagoon channel; not a public landing
