Marina Taina Mooring Field & Anchorage (Zones P0 / P1)

The mooring fields just north and south of Marina Taina, inside the reef with Moorea on the horizon; this is where most visiting cruisers in Tahiti actually stay.

Coordinates are the centre of regulated zone P1 'Marina Taina nord' (17°34.5'–35.2'S, 149°37.08'–37.43'W); zone P0 'Marina Taina sud' lies just south of the marina (17°35.17'–35.58'S, 149°36.91'–37.20'W) (arrêté 650 CM 2020, maps replaced by arrêté 450 CM, April 2026). Since the July 2026 port notice you may only lie on a proper mooring installation in P0/P1; anchoring with your own anchor is strictly prohibited there, and anywhere outside P0, P1, P3, P4 and P5 (fine of the 4th class plus forced removal). The Vairai zone between P1 and the shore is a permanent no-mooring area. Moorings are marked 'C', first come first served; pay at the Marina Taina office, which includes water, fuel dock access, laundry, garbage and dinghy dock (Noonsite, 2023). Noonsite warns they are checked every 3 months but have broken in heavy swell and high wind. 2026 numbered-buoy contract rate is 70% of the 750 XPF/ft 'Taina base rate' per month for a monohull (+75% for multihulls, +250%/+150% liveaboard surcharges, minimum 16,800 XPF mono / 29,400 XPF multi per month); the non-contract weekly rate is 50% of the monthly (tariff guide). Depth 15–18 m with good holding around the field. Lock dinghy, outboard and fuel cans at the dinghy dock; break-ins at the anchorage were reported in 2018.
