Haranae Petroglyphs
16° 26.3′ S · 152° 15.2′ W
Turtles and crabs carved into boulders in the Haranae valley on Maupiti's north side, a short signposted walk inland from the ring road. They are among the best-known petroglyphs in the Leewards.
Practical
Coordinate from Tahiti Heritage (OSM agrees within 15 m). The carvings show two crabs and two turtles, one large and one small, and were recorded by Kenneth Emory in 1933. Wikivoyage: about 1 km north of the main village, then turn left at the sign. An OSM guidepost marks the turn at -16.43647, -152.25155, where there is also a bike-parking and info stand. The streambed path can be muddy; wear shoes.
