Cycling the flat coast road around Tubuai is the cruiser's way to reach the far restaurants, marae and beaches.
Practical
Start: Mataura village (approximate). Bikes from the 4 pensions de famille, e.g. Pension Taitaa (Chugach 2020). The coast road loops the island through Mataura, Taahuaia and Mahu, with a cross-island road (route traversière). Tahiti Tourisme also recommends cycling and horse riding, and swimming at Tavana Beach. Roadside stalls sell fruit and vegetables.
