Tony's Farm Anchorage (Hao)

18° 15.6′ S · 140° 50.1′ W · approximate

An anchorage off a working pearl farm on Hao's east side, where cruisers set up for scuba have helped with farm jobs in exchange for a few black pearls.

Practical

Position from Jacaranda via the Soggy Paws compendium, written as 18°15'58S / 140°50'07W. It is read here as decimal minutes (18°15.58S / 140°50.07W); if those figures are seconds, the spot is about 0.7 km farther south, so it is marked approximate. Getting there is easy at first, but farther on you must watch for isolated coral patches, reefs just below the surface and mostly submerged pearl-shell lines, which are sometimes buoyed and sometimes not. Float your chain. Ask the farm before anchoring near their lines.
