Old Pearl Farm Anchorage (Hao East Lagoon)
18° 13.2′ S · 140° 49.3′ W
A lovely anchorage beside an old pearl farm on the eastern rim, where one crew was invited ashore for freshly caught barbecued fish.
Practical
Duplicat (June 2017): 18°13.196S / 140°49.274W, 'several blissful days'. Probably the same pearl-farm anchorage Jacaranda mentions 2.5 miles along from the Kawau anchorage, and a better choice than the kawau in an 18 kt SE. Expect scattered bommies and pearl lines; float your chain and keep a bow lookout.
Best for
Quiet trade-wind anchorage with a local welcome
Season
E-SE trades
