Teavaroa Village Quay (Takaroa)
14° 28.5′ S · 145° 2.4′ W · approximate
Takaroa's concrete town wharf lies inside the pass on its north side, right in the village of Teavaroa, and makes a calm place to tie up, watch the current and decide when to cross the lagoon.
Practical
Approximate: placed on the north bank of Passe Teauonae (OpenStreetMap pass node) where the village and dock are; the dock coordinate was not published. Grace of Longstone (Jan 2021) lay alongside overnight: dock in good shape with a rubber fender strip and solid bollards; the mairie (free Wi-Fi in office hours), gendarmerie, health centre and post office are all just behind it. Migration (2022) also suggests tying here to wait for the current; make sure the supply ship is not due. Security: the gendarmerie advised not to leave the boat unattended (2021), and Dr. No (2018) was told of trouble with youths and alcohol at the town quay, though Grace of Longstone had no problems and found everyone friendly. The mayor told them to stay as long as they liked.
