Takaroa Airport Small-Boat Dock
14° 27.4′ S · 145° 1.6′ W · approximate
A small, very protected quay by the airport, called the 'marina' by locals, used for staff transfers to the pearl farms and flight arrivals.
Practical
Approximate: placed at the airport position (Wikipedia); the dock is beside it. Narrow reef entrance; Dr. No sounded a least depth of 2 m in sand (2018), too shallow for them, though a monohull and a 36 ft catamaran have lain alongside. Ask the mairie before using it: they do not want cruising boats to assume it is OK (Grace of Longstone, 2021). Families nearby have welcomed cruising kids.
Best for
Shallow-draft boats wanting full shelter
