Tahauku Fuel Station Mini Market

9° 48.3′ S · 139° 1.8′ W

The island's service station sits right on Tahauku harbour: the only fuel for yachts in the southern Marquesas, plus a surprisingly well-stocked mini-market with morning baguettes.

Practical

Fuel by jerry can only at the pumps (2026 brief). For 3,000 litres or more, order a tanker truck in advance from Linda Wong (linda.wong@petropol.pf, +689 40 46 88 31) and lie alongside the Tahauku quay. Duty-free fuel: arrange the certificate through your agent; the station accepts it, so give them a copy and say so before pumping (2016). Credit cards accepted. A small wooden dinghy dock nearby needs a stern anchor. Mini-market: +689 40 92 71 85, 7 am to 5 pm, Saturday until noon, closed Sunday (compendium; verify locally). Fresh baguettes early morning (order the day before), frozen and canned goods, a little produce, fresh tuna, no alcohol (2019). Cooking gas (Polynesian bottles) was sold here in 2020 but sells out within days of each supply ship. A 2015 report gave 3,000 XPF per bottle plus a 3,000 XPF deposit (verify locally). Ask here for the schooner schedule.
