The 'Fare biosphère' building reflects Raraka's place in the UNESCO Fakarava Biosphere Reserve: under Arrêté n° 954 CM (18 July 2016), two maritime areas of Raraka are classified category IV and VI protected areas. Sea-cucumber harvest is allowed only in the transition zone (Wikipedia). A fish park (parc à poissons) lies just off the village; don't disturb the traps.
