Kauehi East Rim Road Walk
15° 56.7′ S · 145° 3.3′ W
A long, rough walk or bike ride up Kauehi's continuous eastern motu, from the Mahuehue anchorage to Tearavero village, about 8 km, with an ice cream as the reward.
Practical
Start point is the place called Mahuehue in OpenStreetMap, beside the East Corner anchorage. Migration (Nov 2023): 'There is a continuous motu on the E side of Kauehi with a road on it. You can anchor in the SE corner and walk or bicycle all the way to the village (about 8 km). It is rough in spots but it makes a good adventure.' Carry water, sun protection and reef shoes. There is no shade on the coral-rubble stretches. Leave the dinghy well up the beach and the boat locked. Don't take coconut crabs or disturb nesting birds.
Best for
A full-day adventure ashore from the SE anchorage
