Raivavae Ridge Tropicbirds
23° 51.9′ S · 147° 39.9′ W · approximate
Red-tailed tropicbirds nest on the cliffs of Raivavae's mountain ridge, and their long tail streamers are easy to watch from the Mt Hiro and route traversière trails.
Practical
Representative position: the Maunanui peak on the central ridge (OSM). Pitufa saw many red-tailed tropicbirds on the ridge cliffs, but only a few noddies and white terns on the motus. Lagoon wildlife is thin: few fish, mostly dead coral, ciguatera.
