Otepa Main Quay and Quai Louarn (Hao)

18° 6.5′ S · 140° 54.5′ W · approximate

Hao's two commercial quays, built for the nuclear-test support traffic, take the supply ships. Yachts can sometimes lie alongside by arrangement when no ship is due.

Practical

Commune profile (2019): Quai Otepa has 60 m of berthing and 3 m draft; Quai Louarn has 172 m and 6 m draft; 3 'marinas' are listed; 57 ship calls were authorised in 2017. Duplicat (2017) found the wharf free to use, better on its west side, and noted some boats used the main village wharf by arrangement when a ship was not due. Ask at the mairie first, and leave at once on ship days. Kids swim off the wharf, so lock up. The sources do not say where Quai Louarn is; ask locally. Position approximate: placed at the Otepa main quay, about 100 m NE of the anchoring spots cruisers logged just off the wharf (Soggy Paws compendium).
