Hao Main Wharf Water Tap
18° 6.5′ S · 140° 54.5′ W · approximate
A public faucet at Otepa's main wharf next to the mairie, one of the few town water points in the Tuamotus.
Practical
The Soggy Paws compendium (2010, re-verified 2025) lists Hao 'at the main wharf next to Le Mairie' among the few towns with a public faucet near the waterfront. Ask permission and ask whether it is drinking water before filling. Water across the atolls is rainwater from household cisterns, so take it in small amounts in dry spells and catch rain when you can. Supply-ship days take priority at the wharf. Position approximate: placed at the Otepa main quay, about 100 m NE of the anchoring spots cruisers logged just off the wharf (Soggy Paws compendium); the exact building was not located on a map. The commune's 2019 profile notes the public drinking-water network (phase 1) supplies the mairie and survival shelter, with the commune helping households buy cisterns.
