Otepa Church (Saint-Pierre)

18° 6.5′ S · 140° 54.5′ W · approximate

Hao's Catholic church of Saint Peter, built in 1870 for a parish founded in 1852, stands near the quay at the heart of Otepa.

Practical

It belongs to the Archdiocese of Papeete. Sunday Mass is a good way to meet the village; dress modestly. The church is a handy landmark for directions: Snack Tia is across from it, and the gendarmerie is reached by turning left on the main road past the church. Position approximate: placed at the Otepa main quay, about 100 m NE of the anchoring spots cruisers logged just off the wharf (Soggy Paws compendium); the exact building was not located on a map.
