Katiu East Finger Anchorage

16° 26.4′ S · 144° 16.6′ W

A sand-and-coral spot behind a reef finger at the east end of Katiu, with a lovely view of the motu and the whole atoll, and good dinghy exploring.

Practical

Waypoint 16°26.43S / 144°16.64W (Eastern Stream, March 2021, Soggy Paws; their note once swaps N/S and E/W labels). About 10 m over sand with coral: float the chain. Watch for pearl farms and bommies en route. Migration (2009) called the east end of Katiu 'our favorite spot in the Tuamotus': reef walks, spearfishing, beach bonfires and coconuts.

Best for

A remote, quiet atoll corner
