From the main dock turn left and follow the road until it almost dead-ends and veers right. Turn there, follow that road to its end and turn right: the school is on your left and the clinic, with lots of solar panels on the roof, is on the right. Take the stairs to the 2nd floor and sign in. One crew (May 2019) had six visits to treat a staph infection, with procedure and medication, for a total of about US$28. The old military hospital closed with the base in the early 2000s. Serious cases are flown to Tahiti (Air Tahiti flies to Papeete). Position approximate: placed in Otepa village just SE of the main quay, derived from the compendium's walking directions; confirm on arrival. The commune's 2019 profile lists 1 infirmary (2 nurses) and a dental centre, contact +689 40 97 05 13 (fax 40 97 03 34); verify the number locally.
