Hao Fuel (Magasins and delivery)
18° 6.6′ S · 140° 54.4′ W · approximate
Hao has no fuel station, but diesel and gasoline can be bought by the jerry can through the magasins or a local fuel agent, or by the 200 L drum from the supply ship.
Practical
From the Soggy Paws compendium (2019-2020 reports, so verify prices locally): Magasin Jojo sold diesel and gasoline at 175 XPF/L (2019); drop off your jugs and collect later or the next morning, loading the dinghy behind the store; cash, and a 1,000 XPF delivery fee was charged. Magasin Otepa fills jugs and took a credit card at 175 XPF/L: leave the jugs, pay, collect the next day. Magasin Amelie also fills jerry cans. A local fuel agent, Cecile, collected jugs by motorbike and delivered to the dock for 1,000 XPF plus fuel, cash only (pay at Jojo or Otepa and she delivers); ask at the magasins for her. The supply ship sells 200 L drums direct, cash XPF, and does not always honour the duty-free certificate. Combine orders with other boats to share delivery fees. Diesel is 'gazoil', gasoline is 'essence'. Position approximate: placed in Otepa village just SE of the main quay, derived from the compendium's walking directions; confirm on arrival. The compendium lists Cecile's phone as +689 87 74 20 84 (2019-2020); the same number is listed by Tahiti Tourisme for Natirena Lodge in Otepa. The commune's 2019 profile lists the ships calling as Nuku Hau, Taporo 8 and Saint-Xavier Maris Stella (SXMS) 3 and 4.
