Hanavave Stone Tiki Carver
10° 27.8′ S · 138° 39.7′ W · approximate
Hanavave's carvers work in wood, bone and stone; you can buy a hand-carved stone tiki straight from the workshop, and many cruisers rank the carving here above the other islands'.
Practical
Approximate position: Hanavave village (homes are unsigned; ask around). Reports: Taua (Christian) offered a carved stone tiki, launch taxi to Omoa and meals (Nov 2018; directions: turn right after the school, first yellow house on the left). Henri and Ann, beside a vanilla garden just up from the mairie on the left, make wood, bone and stone carvings and jewellery and speak some English (July 2023). Barter is welcome (fishing gear, rope, clothing). Carvers bring work to the quay when ships or cruise boats call.
