Hanavave Kaikai Dinners with Local Families
10° 27.8′ S · 138° 39.7′ W · approximate
There is no restaurant in Hanavave, but many families cook a Marquesan feast at home for cruisers: pig from the earth oven, sweet potato, shredded papaya, poisson cru.
Practical
Approximate position: Hanavave village. It is a competitive business, so shop around and ask other cruisers; usually BYOB (Nov 2023). Reported prices: $30 per person (April 2025); $15-25 per person (2019); 2,000 XPF per person (2018; verify locally). Hosts named by cruisers include Rosa (first house after the bridge toward the post office, 2018), Kathy and Sisi (2019) and the Poyet family (2018). Water and car taxis to Omoa are offered at high prices (2022).
