Hanavave Water and Trash
10° 27.9′ S · 138° 39.9′ W · approximate
Free fresh water flows from a tap beside the boat ramp in the Hanavave dinghy harbour. There is no rubbish disposal anywhere on Fatu Hiva for yachts.
Practical
Approximate position: the dinghy harbour on the north side of the beach (cruiser descriptions). Water: the faucet at the harbour is free and a hose can be connected (2018); described as clean and potable (2015, 2018), though one crew noted small particles, so filter it. Swell surges into the basin, so stern-anchor the dinghy. Trash: none. Do not leave it here; take it to Tahauku wharf on Hiva Oa (2026 brief).
