Practical
Wikipedia: state-owned since 1964, a 'Common Military Zone' administered within the commune of Tureia, and a wildlife sanctuary for birds. Access is through a dredged channel about 60 m wide and 6.5 m deep, about 0.8 km SW of the northernmost point, beaconed on each side, but it is closed to yachts. The Defence ministry and the CEA have taken annual radiological samples since 1998.
