St Nicholas Fortress & St Anthony's Channel

43° 43.3′ N · 15° 51.3′ E

A Venetian sea fort that sits almost in the water at the seaward mouth of St Anthony's Channel, the narrow natural gateway to Šibenik. It became part of a UNESCO World Heritage listing in 2017 and reopened to visitors in 2019 after restoration. You pass right beside it on the way in.

Practical

Coordinate is the fortress (OSM way 164431391). You cannot visit by your own yacht: visitor boats leave from the Šibenik waterfront by the Krka mole, and tickets are sold at the info point opposite (Obala dr. Franje Tuđmana 4, +385 22 338 343) or online. In 2026 the fortress boats run 5 May to 18 October. A Krka or Kornati park ticket gives 10% off. A visitor centre for the channel is in Minerska cove inside the channel, reachable on foot or by boat. The channel itself is about 2.7 km long and 120-300 m wide. Rules from the Croatian pilot (2026 corrections): no sailing in the channel, speed limit 8 kn, and large ships take priority. The Krka outflow sets out of the channel at 0.5-3 kn. Do not anchor in the channel.
