Twin Cays Anchorage
16° 49.6′ N · 88° 6.4′ W · approximate
Two mangrove islands split by a narrow bight that gives one of the best blow-holes in central Belize, 2 nm from South Water Caye, with a chance of manatees.
Practical
Position approximate: placed off the southwest side of OpenStreetMap's Twin Caye Range outline, near the mouth of the bight between the two cayes; feel your way in by eye. Depths in the bight are sufficient for most yachts and the mangroves give shelter in rough weather; check guides and local knowledge for the approach (Yacht Warriors). The Moorings recommends Twin Cayes as the sheltered alternative to South Water in less settled weather. Mosquitoes and no-see-ums when calm.
Best for
Riding out a front or squall
