The Grotto (South Caicos)
21° 28.3′ N · 71° 30.9′ W · approximate
South Caicos's signature wall dive: swim-throughs and a sheer drop from about 80 ft to 1,000 ft, on a main flight path for spotted eagle rays, with Caribbean reef sharks, barracuda and schooling jacks.
Practical
Coordinate approximate: plotted off the island's southeast corner; Divernet (Dec 2025) places it on the eastern coast along a steep wall, with eagle rays at about 30 m and the wall falling from about 25 m to 300 m. A 2001 report (Undercurrent, published 2022) saw schools of up to 14 eagle rays and occasional reef sharks; DAN (2023) notes roughtail stingrays on the sand flats. Wall diving: watch depth and current. National park, no take. Adventures by Salterra is the only operator.
