Sosúa Town & Beach
19° 45.0′ N · 70° 31.2′ W
A beach town east of Puerto Plata founded as a settlement for about 800 German and Austrian Jewish refugees in 1940–1945. It is also the cruisers' shopping run from Luperón.
Practical
Coordinates from Wikipedia. Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP) is in the western part of the municipality. A Noonsite cruiser report (2016) recommends Super Pola in Sosúa for meat and full provisioning (verify locally). For the anchorage, see Sosúa Bay (park moorings), fair weather only.
