Sosúa Bay (park moorings)

19° 45.9′ N · 70° 31.7′ W

A small bay off the tourist town of Sosúa, inside national-park waters, where officials direct visiting boats to a mooring buoy.

Practical

Waypoint from the Virgintino DR guide (~2015): about 20 ft, sand over coral, west of a reef off the public beach. Anchoring is prohibited: officials usually come out by dinghy and assign a buoy. Untenable in NE wind or E wind with a NE sea running. Sosúa town has supermarkets (cruisers from Luperón come here for meat) and a synagogue founded by Jewish refugees during World War II.

Best for

A fair-weather stop or provisioning run on the north coast
