Sandbore Caye Light & Northern Two Cayes
17° 27.8′ N · 87° 29.2′ W
The lighthouse on Sandbore Caye marks Lighthouse Reef's northern end; together with Northern Caye (old resort and airstrip) it forms the Northern Two Cayes, with a grouper spawning site just outside the reef.
Practical
Sandbore Caye is about 10 acres; its lagoon has 8 ft but a tricky shoal to cross. Northern Caye has a 1,900 ft east-west airstrip and docks with 7 ft (northwest staff dock) and 5 ft (east guest dock); the Lighthouse Reef Resort there closed in July 2005 (VYA - verify current status). Grouper spawning December to February just outside the Sandbore reef: no fishing. Lights are kept by Port Authority keepers but may be unreliable. Position: OpenStreetMap light.
