17° 12.2′ N · 87° 32.0′ W · approximate
From May to November loggerhead, hawksbill and green turtles nest on Belize's caye beaches - notably Half Moon Caye's southeast beach and the Sapodilla Cayes, Belize's second most important hawksbill rookery.
Practical
Half Moon Caye's southeast beach is a turtle nesting ground May to November (Wikipedia) and the monument's management zones protect nesting turtles (management plan). Sapodilla Cayes are the second most important hawksbill nesting site in Belize (VYA). Keep lights off ashore and on deck near nesting beaches, stay off the beach at night, and never disturb nests or hatchlings. Position: southeast beach of Half Moon Caye (approximate).
