Pajarales Cays Channel Snorkel (Isla Los Pajarales)

10° 10.7′ N · 75° 46.4′ W · approximate

In the western Rosarios the Pajarales cays - Isla Los Pajarales, San Martín, San Juan and San Antonio de Pajarales - are tiny islets split by shallow, clear channels, an easy dinghy snorkel from the Oceanario anchorage.

Practical

Coordinate approximate: placed in the channel between Isla Los Pajarales (OSM 10.17837, -75.77647) and San Martín de Pajarales (OSM 10.17699, -75.77155). Spanish Wikipedia describes the western sector as small islets separated by shallow channels and lists the three 'Pajares' islets at about 0.95 ha each. Anchor the yacht at the Oceanario waypoint A14 and go in by dinghy; tie to a hotel dock with permission or drift - don't drop a dinghy anchor on coral. Snorkel early (6–9 am) or after 4 pm: day boats pass at high speed through the middle of the day (Tom Plan My Trip, 2026), and Isla Grande's guide notes much of the shallow coral is degraded, so expect fish over rubble as well as live heads. Most islets are private - don't land without asking. Park rules: don't touch, stand on or anchor on coral; no collecting; dive only with an operator licensed for the park (Parques Nacionales).
