Oak Ridge Anchorage (Roatán)

16° 23.6′ N · 86° 21.2′ W · approximate

A busy, colourful fishing harbour on Roatán's southeast coast, its stilt houses and mangrove channels linking Jonesville, Calabash Bight and Oak Ridge Cay — a real island town rather than a resort.

Practical

Coordinate is the 'Oak Ridge Harbour' bay label in OpenStreetMap, not a sounded anchorage; pick your spot visually in good light. Older notes (2007-2009, verify locally): Roy Mart fuel dock on the west side of the main bay (12 ft at dock, 50-gallon minimum reported), Sandy's small marina in the west bight (4 slips), Saturday morning market at the taxi stand with a butcher and shrimp from the shrimpers, Miss Claire's and J&D's groceries, hardware stores with 12V batteries, and clinics. Dinghy through the mangrove canals to Jonesville and Calabash Bight without going outside the reef. Some notes warn not to leave a dinghy unattended at the rickety public docks.
