Lucea Harbour Anchorage

18° 27.8′ N · 78° 9.7′ W

An easy-entry harbour under the ruins of Fort Charlotte, with a courthouse clock tower said to have been meant for St. Lucia and a lively weekend market.

Practical

Position is Virgintino's waypoint half a mile north of the entrance (18 27.77N, 078 09.70W). Anchor just south of the marine terminal in 12 ft, good holding (Virgintino); a 2019 Noonsite report anchored on the east side 500 m inside the concrete pier in 3 m, excellent holding and calm in easterlies, and says the two charted lit markers were not visible at night. Not protected in northers. The town is about a mile from the anchorage. Hurricane Melissa (Category 5, landfall October 28, 2025 near New Hope, Westmoreland) caused severe damage in western Jamaica; Noonsite (2026) says ports of entry have reopened but not all areas have recovered, so confirm that shore businesses are operating.

Best for

Calm easterly-wind stop with a historic town

Season

Trade-wind season; not in northers
