Long Bay (Seven Mile Beach) Negril

18° 18.0′ N · 78° 20.7′ W · approximate

Negril's famous 7 miles (11 km) of white sand beach, lined with hotels and beach bars between Bloody Bay and Negril town.

Practical

Coordinate approximate (mid-beach, off the hotel strip). Virgintino: you can anchor along Long Bay toward town, but it is less comfortable than Bloody Bay as a swell can roll in at night; he does not recommend overnighting off the town itself (exposed and visible). For provisioning, anchor off the town for the day and leave the dinghy at a business with someone watching it; supermarkets and fruit stands in town. Negril's small airport has flights to Montego Bay and Kingston, handy for crew changes (Virgintino 2015). Hurricane Melissa (Category 5, landfall October 28, 2025 near New Hope, Westmoreland) caused severe damage in western Jamaica; Noonsite (2026) says ports of entry have reopened but not all areas have recovered, so confirm that shore businesses are operating.
