Getsemaní Barrio Walk
10° 25.2′ N · 75° 32.8′ W
The oldest part of Cartagena outside the walls - once the barrio of artisans and the colonial poor, now the liveliest neighborhood in town - is a 10-minute walk from the Manga dinghy dock across the Román bridge.
Practical
OSM position for the Getsemaní neighborhood centroid. Wikivoyage: the oldest part of the city lies around Plaza de la Trinidad, the barrio is safe during the day but turns seedy late at night (aggressive beggars, drug sellers - don't hand over money). Walk it in the late afternoon: Plaza de la Trinidad, the Calle de la Media Luna and the Getsemaní import stores ('Contraband Alley' between Calle Larga and Av. Arsenal) for cheap wine and stores (Cruiser's Guide), then stay for dinner and live music (see Getsemaní & Plaza de la Trinidad, Café Havana). Take a taxi back to Manga after dark.
Best for
Late-afternoon stroll ending in dinner and salsa
