El Pueblito (Orika) Village, Isla Grande
10° 10.6′ N · 75° 44.5′ W
The Rosarios' only real village, home to the islands' Afro-Colombian community - a few shops and restaurants, a school and a health post - and the place to buy basic groceries or fresh lobster straight from the fishermen.
Practical
OSM position (El Pueblito; the Orika hamlets are mapped beside it, plus a health post 'Islas del Rosario' at 10.18064, -75.74632). Spanish Wikipedia: El Pueblito is the archipelago's only populated place. A traveler report (Vakantio, undated): about 30 simple houses, many without electricity, few restaurants, groceries available, and no ATM - bring cash from Cartagena. Fishermen sell lobster and fish from small boats (also a 2010 cruiser report); respect closed seasons and size limits. The park's communities are organized as consejos comunitarios (Parques Nacionales).
