Convento de la Popa (Cerro de La Popa)

10° 25.2′ N · 75° 31.5′ W

The 17th-century convent of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria crowns the 150 m Cerro de La Popa, the city's highest point - the panorama takes in the whole bay, Bocagrande, the old city and your boat at anchor.

Practical

Position from Wikivoyage. The national cruising guide uses the hill (155.6 m) as the landmark for a northern approach; the convent is lit at night. Go by taxi both ways: the Cruiser's Guide warns not to walk up or down because the barrio at the foot of the hill is considered dangerous. Pilgrims celebrate the Virgen de la Candelaria every 2 February. Wikivoyage lists entry at COP 8,000 for adults and warns the taxi up and back can cost COP 50,000 - agree the fare and waiting time before you set off (undated, verify locally).
