Cayos Cochinos Admission Fee & Check-in (Cayo Menor)
15° 57.5′ N · 86° 30.1′ W · approximate
Every visitor to the Cayos Cochinos marine reserve checks in with the foundation's staff on Cayo Menor, watches a short introduction video and pays the admission fee.
Practical
Placed at the Cayo Cochino Menor island centroid (OSM, approx); the scientific station and its dock are on Cayo Menor. The Honduras Coral Reef Foundation's site (2026) lists admission: US$5 + tax for Honduran residents, US$10 + tax for non-residents through a certified tour operator, US$20 + tax for private non-residents (the rate for visiting yachts); open 8am to 5pm daily. No anchoring in the reserve — use the moorings (see Cayos Cochinos Moorings). Respect fishing restrictions; the Garifuna villages of East End and Chachahuate are home to about 250 people.
