Cartagena Haul-Out Yards (Mamonal: Ferroalquimar, Todomar, Marina Portobello)

10° 22.0′ N · 75° 30.6′ W · approximate

The industrial Mamonal shore south of the city has the big lifts: Ferroalquimar's 300-ton travel lift, Todomar's yard and the newer Marina Portobello, where many cruisers do bottom jobs and refits at a fraction of US prices.

Practical

Coordinate is approximate: it is the national guide's position for Todomar's Albornoz yard (10°22'00.84"N 75°30'34.52"W); the Cruiser's Guide says Ferroalquimar is close by on vía Mamonal (Albornoz) - confirm each yard's dock with your agent. Ferroalquimar: 300-ton travel lift taking beam to 35 ft and draft to 11 ft, plus a 40-ton lift (yard site); organized yard with selected contractors, restaurant, wifi/TV room; cell/WA +57 316 4709526; marine supply via Navi Supply. Todomar Albornoz: 45–60-ton lift reported, slips for 10 ft draft, flat-bottomed stands, gravel yard (dusty); about 20 minutes from town. Marina Portobello (new 2023): wide travel lift for catamarans up to about 33–34 ft beam (90–100-ton figures quoted), covered paint shed, no liveaboards, own work allowed for a fixed fee; approach channel needed dredging (about 7–8 ft draft with an eye on the tide); manager Luis Carrasquilla. Taking the boat from Manga to the yards needs your agent's permission and Club Náutico recommends a local pilot (about USD 30, verify locally). Noonsite comments (2019) praise Ferroalquimar for long-term storage while traveling inland.
