The roadside pits at Boston, east of Port Antonio, are credited as the birthplace of commercial jerk: pork and chicken smoked over pimento wood, roasted breadfruit and festival, eaten at plank tables a short walk from the surf at Boston Beach.

Position is Shaggy's Jerk Centre on the Northern Coastal Highway (OpenStreetMap), one of the cluster of pits; Visit Jamaica names Boston Jerk Centre at Fairy Hill as the original, with Ivy's and Shaggy's nearby. Go by road (route taxi from Port Antonio); there is no protected anchorage at Boston Bay - see the Boston Bay beach entry. Agree prices before ordering.
