Bluff Beach (Playa Bluff)
9° 24.6′ N · 82° 14.9′ W · approximate
Isla Colón's wild, orange-sand surf beach — over 4 km long, pounded by Caribbean swell, and a municipal reserve where three species of sea turtle nest.
Practical
Position approximate (surf-forecast.com break location). Reached by road (about 9–10 km from Bocas Town; ~US$15 taxi or bicycle) — not a yacht anchorage; it faces the open sea. Strong waves and rip currents; swimming can be difficult (Wikivoyage; Wikipedia). Leatherback, hawksbill and green turtles nest April–September; ANABOCA runs guided night walks April–August (Visit Panama; Tourism Panama). Beach-break surf is consistent and works at all tides (surf-forecast). Coral-origin sand stays cool underfoot (Visit Panama).
Best for
Surf and turtle-nesting walks
Season
