San Salvador wall dives (west coast)
24° 2.5′ N · 74° 32.0′ W · approximate
Some of the best wall diving in the Bahamas: dozens of moored sites along the lee shore where the reef top at 40 ft drops over sheer walls into thousands of feet, with reef sharks, turtles and winter hammerheads.
Practical
Riding Rock: most sites 10-20 minutes from the marina, wall starting around 40 ft, visibility often over 100-150 ft, scalloped hammerheads a favourite sighting. Bahamas tourism counts roughly 50 dive sites. Noonsite: use the 50-plus mooring buoys rather than anchoring. Riding Rock runs dive boats from the marina and Club Med has its own dive centre. Point is the Telephone Pole site (approx) off Cockburn Town.
