Rock Sound Public Dock (Customs & Immigration)

24° 51.8′ N · 76° 9.6′ W

The town dinghy dock in the heart of Rock Sound settlement, the landing for fuel, water, groceries and town; Customs and Immigration themselves sit at Rock Sound International Airport.

Practical

Position from the ActiveCaptain 'Town Dinghy Dock' marker. Sturdy ladders both sides. Nearby: Dingle's Esso station (diesel and gas, small store, car rental), the Lumber Shed (general goods, can act as freight forwarder for parts from the States) and the Blue Seahorse gift shop with a deli behind (ActiveCaptain). The government dock beside it is used by mail and supply boats, often at night. A new visitor dock was dredged to take larger boats alongside in 2022 (Fetchin' Ketch). To clear in, take the dinghy to the airport dinghy dock in the north-west corner of the sound; Customs and Immigration are a 110-yd walk (ActiveCaptain, 2018: professional and polite). Rock Sound airport is an official port of entry (Bahamas tourism).
