Pear Cay
23° 7.9′ N · 75° 31.6′ W
A bare rock on the open bank between Nuevitas Rocks and Water Cay, beside the gap GeoNames calls Pear Cay Pass. Boats crossing the bank from Long Island toward the Jumentos use it as a check on their position.
Practical
Position from GeoNames (feature type: rock, Ragged Island district). Pear Cay Pass is listed at 23.1386, -75.5068, with No Bush Cay (23.1418, -75.5006) and Wet Cay (23.1521, -75.4638) nearby; Nuevitas Rock light is about 8.5 nm ENE. We found no cruising guide, ActiveCaptain or noforeignland entry for an anchorage or a transit of the pass, so do not plan to stop here: it is a reference point only. Bank crossings in this area are visual piloting: go in good overhead light, follow Explorer Chart routes and keep well clear of the rocks, which may have unmarked coral and sand bores around them.
