Conception Island East Bay Anchorage

23° 50.9′ N · 75° 6.4′ W · approximate

The bay on the island's northeast side, with visible coral heads to snorkel and wind-sculpted rocks on the northeast beach.

Practical

noforeignland rates it 4.0/5: calm in the northwest corner of the bay but rolly with northerly swell; good snorkelling on visible coral heads; interesting rock formations on the northeast beach. Point placed in the NW corner from the OSM coastline (no published coordinates). Blue Water Sailing (2016) notes one could in theory shuttle between the west and east anchorages as fronts pass, but found the windward seas very rough and slow to calm, and boats that checked the east anchorage in SW winds found it untenable. Use only in settled westerly-component weather with no north swell.

Best for

Shelter from light west and southwest winds when West Bay rolls

Season

Light W-SW winds only; rolly in N swell
