Snorkel· Ragged Island· Bahamas — Eleuthera, Andros & the Out Islands

Between the Raggeds outer reef

22° 10.1′ N · 75° 43.4′ W · approximate

The coral reef at the entrance to the cut between Ragged and Little Ragged, with lobster and plenty of fish a short dinghy ride from the best anchorage in the chain.

Practical

Coordinate approx: pinned at the Between the Raggeds entrance waypoint; the reef position is not published. ActiveCaptain reviewers (2021-2026): nice coral with lobsters and fish; 'beautiful and sharky' on the outer reef, so do not clean fish on the boat. Snorkel near slack water and in light winds; the entrance is shallow (about 2 m at low water) so watch the dinghy prop.

Best for

Lobster and reef fish next to the all-weather anchorage

Season

Dec–May; best Mar–May between fronts
