Tongue of the Ocean Wall (south-west New Providence)

24° 58.4′ N · 77° 28.8′ W · approximate

The drop-off where the 6,000 ft Tongue of the Ocean, a 120-mile-long oceanic trench, comes within about half a mile of New Providence's south-west shore: a vertical wall starting at about 35 ft and plunging into blue water.

Practical

Coordinate approximate: placed about half a mile off the Coral Harbour / Stuart Cove shore, where Stuart Cove's says the trench approaches the coast; it is not a mooring or dive-site fix. Stuart Cove's: the walls begin at about 35 ft and fall to 6,000 ft; the upper wall is densely covered in life, and below about 130 ft growth thins to bare stone. Guided wall dives start at 40-60 ft and are guided to about 70 ft (first dive of Stuart Cove's two-tank trip, AM boat 8:30 am, PM boat 1:30 pm). bahamas.com quotes Stuart Cove: the south-side wall 'rivals any wall dive I have seen anywhere'; the north side has drop-offs with tunnels and caves. Visibility clears quickly after storms once the tide changes. Dive with an operator: the wall is on an exposed coast with strong drop-offs, and private anchoring over coral is not appropriate.
